The Kolkata International Foundation invited us to compete for their new Arts Centre in southeastern Kolkata. Our proposal prescribes a series of rules, creating an adaptable system that would be flexible to the final requirements of the Board. The exterior skin, for example, would have been a collaboration with local artists, defining local methods and materials to ensure a unique application.
Housing galleries, libraries, lecture halls, a bookstore, a restaurant, and residence studio spaces, the building was a complex mix of commercial, cultural, and residential. We proposed creating a series of nodes where these diverse functions would overlap, creating space for conversation (adda).
